Applications now can be submitted to Cincinnati Public Schools' high school lottery for entry in the 2019-20 school year.
Round 1 of the high school lottery runs Tuesday, February 19, through Friday, March 8, 2019. Applications to CPS’ high school for grades 7, 8 and 9 are submitted online, and seats are assigned via random lottery.
Parents, and CPS students in grades 6, 7 and 8, may submit online applications to enter high schools from any computer with Internet access. CPS' high schools offer grades 7-12.
The School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) and Walnut Hills High School do not participate in the online high school lottery because these schools have eligibility requirements. Applications for SCPA and Walnut Hills are submitted at the schools.
Applications may be submitted any time during a round. The time an application is submitted within a round does not matter because seats are assigned via random lottery after each round closes. But it is important to submit applications during Round 1 because high school seats fill up quickly. Rounds 2 and 3 are for applications not submitted in Round 1.
- Round 1 – Feb. 19 - March 8, 2019
- Round 2 – April 2 - 12, 2019 (subject to change)
- Round 3 – April 30 - May 10, 2019 (subject to change)
For Round 1, parents will be notified by mail in late March 2019 of each student’s status (accepted or on waiting list).
If needed, applications to CPS’ online high school application lottery may be submitted using computers in CPS schools or at CPS' Education Center, 2651 Burnet Avenue, 45219 (Corryville) in the Customer Care Center.
